About Us

Accessible Healthcare
for Children and Busy Parents
At Family Paediatrics, we understand that parents want the best for their children, but life can be busy and challenging. Our service is designed to support families in accessing quality, affordable routine healthcare without the need to book appointments, take time off work, or disrupt precious family time. We come to you, offering assessments within your child's childcare setting.
Follow-up consultations can be conducted via telehealth or phone at a time that suits you—whether during your lunch break, after school pick-up, or once the kids have gone to bed. We created this service because we recognise the difficulties of getting to appointments, while also appreciating the value of regular health and wellness checks to ensure children are growing and developing well.
Our Features
What we do differently
01
Child Health, but different
When your child needs a health check or you have concerns about their health and wellness, the usual process requires a visit to your GP or a Maternal Child Health Nurse. This often means taking time out of your busy schedule for an appointment, which can be challenging for parents juggling multiple responsibilities. The wait times can add to the frustration, making it difficult to access the care your child needs promptly. At Family Paediatrics, we aim to alleviate these challenges by offering flexible, accessible healthcare solutions that fit seamlessly into your family's routine.
03
But, I need to see a Paediatrician...
All the health professionals at Family Paediatrics bring years of clinical experience and postgraduate qualifications to their roles. If you've been advised to see a Paediatrician but face long wait times, we’re here to help in the meantime. We can provide further assessment and support while you wait for your appointment. Plus, if you haven’t received a referral yet, we can assist with that as well, ensuring you have the care you need without unnecessary delays.
02
Not just Another Helpline
While parent helplines are an essential service, we’re here to mix things up a bit. At Family Paediatrics, we provide care from regular health professionals in your area who can assess your child in person during their time at childcare. This means you receive tailored support that directly addresses your child’s specific needs and concerns. After the assessment, we can discuss the findings in depth, ensuring you have a clear understanding of your child's health. If you need to follow up on your child's health later, you can easily book another appointment with the same provider, allowing for continuity of care and a more personalised experience.
04
So, what is a Nurse Practitioner anyway?
I know you’ve been waiting to ask this whole time: "What’s a Nurse Practitioner?" While we may seem new in Australia, the government has recently made it much easier for the general public to access our services. Nurse Practitioners are senior nurses who have completed postgraduate training, enabling them to assess, diagnose, and treat a range of health conditions within their specialised area. For example, if your child has a tummy ache, we can examine them, order blood tests or X-rays, diagnose the issue, and prescribe the necessary medication if needed. There’s no referral required to see us—similar to visiting your GP—and if you do need to consult a specialist, we can refer you as well.

Service Expansion
Our Service is built on the foundation that in-person assessment is important, but not always practical, so we try to bring our service to you. If you would like to utilise our Services, but your childcare centre doesn't work with us yet, please get in touch with us (and your childcare centre), we are always looking to expand our coverage of quality care provided by Child and Family Health Qualified Nurses and Nurse Practitioners.
